December 2003

We are currently in the VERY beginning stages of building. At this time, we basically own a hole! Here are some pictures of the hole.

January 2004

We are making progress on the house! We took these pictures a couple of days before Christmas. What you see in the pictures is the basement walls. They have made so much progress that since we’ve taken the pictures, they have now poured the basement floor and the garage floor. In fact, they started framing the house this week.

January 26, 2004

Wow! Here we go! Progress, progress, progress! As you can see, we’ve gotten a significant amount of framing done this month! The weather has been pretty cooperative so far with minimal rain/snow. Once they finish the framing, they’ll start on the roof and then they’ll wrap the house before they put on the siding. This is such a fun process to watch. We generally go out to the house every day to see what the framers have gotten done that day. You know it’s funny…everyone said that building a house is really hard on a marriage. Gary and I haven’t found that to be true at all. We’ve enjoyed picking everything out together and our tastes are so similar we haven’t had any major disagreements about anything! Right now we are on track to move in to the house in June. We’ll keep you posted as to our continued progress!

February 18, 2004

Check it out! The roof is on, the windows are in and we have garage doors! This whole process has been amazing! According to the bank, who has been monitoring our project, the home is currently more than 45% complete! We are anticipating a June move in date. This time we’ve got a lot of pictures for you! Picture number two was taken from the back of our sitting area. In this picture, you can see the fireplace in the living room and the front door. To the left of the front door will be the formal dining room. Picture number three was taken from the front door. Chase is standing in the middle of the kitchen and the doors that you see are in the back of the sitting area. Those doors will open out on to a covered deck. As you can see from these pictures, we have an EXTREMELY open floor plan. Really, the only walls on the main level are those for the bedrooms and bathrooms. Everything else is open. Picture number four was taken from the middle of the master bathroom. The kids are standing in the middle of the master bedroom. The last picture is a direct shot of the kitchen. There will be cabinets all over those walls. The opening that you see is for our walk in pantry. The plumbing coming out of the floor is where the island will be in the middle of the kitchen. We will continue to keep you posted!

March 26, 2004

We are making great strides. The driveway has been poured, the brick is complete and the interior has all of its drywall. Now the drywall has to be mudded and taped and then once that’s complete, we’ll be ready to paint and then start installing doors, trim, fixtures, etc.

May 4, 2004

Finally, some new pictures to share! We are making great progress.  Here are some pictures of the inside of our house. This week, they should be finishing the wood floor and then next week we'll get countertops installed. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to move within the next 30-45 days!

June 7, 2004

Whooo Hoooooo!!!! We are almost done! Barring any complications, we close on the house on Friday and then will be able to move in. The next pictures you get will hopefully include grass and landscaping!

Here are some more recent pictures of our house.  Obviously we are starting to feel much more settled.  When we get a little closer to summer, I plan to take more outside pictures so you can see all of the sod we laid and the trees we've planted.  Gary's newest project is finishing the basement.  So I plan to take pictures of that too so that you can see that evolve as well.
